The Texas Rangers were the only local team in action Monday.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

Texas Rangers (29-18, first in American League West)

Last Game: Pittsburgh Pirates 6, Rangers 4

The Pirates took a 2-1 lead on a single in the seventh, and Tucupita Marcano launched a grand slam to centerfield to make it a 6-1 game. The Rangers made a late charge, adding a run in the eighth on a Marcus Semien single and two more on a Josh Jung home run in the ninth. However, the next two batters failed to reach base and ended the game.

Noteworthy: Texas’ lead in the AL West dwindles to a single game as Houston beat Milwaukee on Monday. The Rangers have had at least a share of first place in the division for 52 of 53 days this season.

— Texas is playing at Pittsburgh for the first time since 2019.

— Starting pitcher Dane Dunning gave up just one run in five and two-thirds innings.

— Nathan Eovaldi starts Game 2 of the series on Tuesday. He has lasted at least seven innings in each of his last four starts and only allowed three runs during that span.

Next Up: Rangers at Pirates (25-22), 5:35 p.m. CT Tuesday

Dallas Stars (Vegas leads series 2-0)

Noteworthy: The Stars return home for Game 3, trailing a series 2-0 for the first time this postseason. — Dallas is 5-2 on home ice during the playoffs.

— This is the second playoff series between the two franchises, who also met in the 2020 Conference Finals, which Dallas won in five games.

— Forward Jason Robertson has three points in the first two games of the Western Conference Finals, giving him the second-most on the team with 15. Roope Hintz leads with an NHL-best 22.
