The Pirates took a 2-1 lead on a single in the seventh, and Tucupita Marcano launched a grand slam to centerfield to make it a 6-1 game. The Rangers made a late charge, adding a run in the eighth on a Marcus Semien single and two more on a Josh Jung home run in the ninth. However, the next two batters failed to reach base and ended the game.
Noteworthy: Texas’ lead in the AL West dwindles to a single game as Houston beat Milwaukee on Monday. The Rangers have had at least a share of first place in the division for 52 of 53 days this season.

— Starting pitcher Dane Dunning gave up just one run in five and two-thirds innings.
