The Texas Rangers are set to kick off the 2025 MLB season with a matchup against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, March 27, at 3:05 p.m. at Globe Life Field.

Texas will open the season at Globe Life Field for just the fourth time since the stadium opened in 2020, with the team posting a 3-0 record in previous Opening Day matchups and now looking to keep its perfect record alive, per MLB.com.

To celebrate Opening Day, the Rangers are reportedly considering opening the roof of Globe Life Field.

Both the Rangers and Red Sox would have to agree to the decision before the first pitch, but that seems likely given the expectation of the temperature being in the mid-70s without the chance of rain, per KRLD.

Rangers fans will recognize a familiar face on the mound for Opening Day, as Nathan Eovaldi will pitch for the season’s first game for a second consecutive year.

Eovaldi is set to become just the second Rangers pitcher to start consecutive Opening Days since Kevin Millwood accomplished the feat with four straight Opening Days from 2006 to 2009, according to MLB.com.

Unsurprisingly, players and coaches are all excited to begin the season, with Rangers manager Bruce Bochy saying he has been looking forward to Opening Day and it will never be a feeling he can become accustomed to.

“I’d be lying, if I was saying I wasn’t thinking about Opening Day,” he said, per MLB.com.

“We have Boston coming up, we got to get ready for that. That day when I get up, that’s when the juices really get going. These guys will tell you, doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in this game, you’re going to get ramped up. It’s just — it’s an exciting time.”

One notable absence from the Rangers roster is outfielder Evan Carter, who will spend time in the minor leagues to find a rhythm following a difficult spring training, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Although the World Series is more than six months away, the Rangers already rank near the top of the league in odds to win the season’s final series.

Texas is opening the season with +900 to win the World Series this season, which is 10th in the MLB and significantly behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers at +160, according to ESPN.

The Rangers will play four games against the Red Sox before hitting the road for a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, which begins on March 31.
