6’9″ Flower Mound center Abbie Boutilier will be headed to Austin to play under Coach Vic Schaefer for the Longhorns. The class of 2023 recruit made her announcement via Twitter.

Boutilier is ranked 36th in the class of 2023 on ASGR. She is currently the tallest Longhorn recruit of all the incoming classes. She is a presence in the paint both defensively and on the boards. Should she stay true to her commitment, she will be the tallest Texas player since Ellen Bayer (6’8″, 1986-1990).

Boutilier is expected to make a bigger impact for Coach Sherika Nelson and Flower Mound in her junior season after a year providing a spark off the bench. Coach Nelson posted a congratulatory tweet for Boutilier’s commitment.

Boutilier is the first commit of the 2023 class for the Longhorns. She will join a roster with two top ten recruits in the class of 2021 in Aaliyah Moore (6th) and Rori Harmon (10th). The class of 2022 also features two 4-star commits for the Longhorns in Amina Muhammad and Jordana Cordio.

The Longhorns are coming off an Elite 8 appearance from this year’s tournament. They will have some tough shoes to fill after saying goodbye to their star center Charli Collier, who went first overall in the WNBA draft.
