The Texas A&M baseball team is the Dallas Express Team of the Week after a 17-0 start that has seen the Aggies rise to No.4 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25 rankings.

A&M is one of two unbeaten teams (Florida State) remaining in Division I college baseball and trails only Arkansas, LSU, and Oregon State in the national rankings.

“The record itself is going to give you confidence, but I know that our guys don’t take anything for granted,” head coach Jim Schlossnagle told the media earlier this week. “I haven’t once felt like our guys didn’t show up to play.”

The Aggies have passed every test so far, picking up where they left off after reaching the regional final of the NCAA Tournament last season, going 3-0 against USC and Arizona State of the PAC-12 during the Globe Life Field Series in Arlington earlier this month, and topping then-No.14 Texas a few days later.

A&M has a superb pitching staff that leads the country with a 2.01 earned run average, led by junior Ryan Prager — one of three players nationwide who has yet to allow a run — junior Tanner Jones and sophomore Justin Lamkin.

Offensively, the Aggies are a top-30 team across the board, batting .320 with 32 home runs and averaging 10 runs per game.

Outfielder Jace LaViolette is ninth nationally in batting average and eighth in runs scored, while freshman Gavin Grahhovac is 14th in runs with 26 on the year. Outfielder Braden Montgomery is also having a great season, tied for third in the country with 31 RBIs.

Texas A&M has a big weekend coming up with a three-game road series against No.8 Florida (10-6), and their performance in SEC play, which will feature many of the nation’s best teams, will tell us much more about the team’s potential the rest of the season.
