TCU has landed a veteran quarterback from the transfer portal.
Former Oregon State starting quarterback Chance Nolan committed to the Horned Frogs via social media on Tuesday, posting a graphic with the caption “Blessed and Excited for the Next Part #TCU #GoFrogs?✝️”
TCU is looking to find its replacement for Heisman Trophy runner-up Max Duggan, who led the team to the national championship game and likely will be selected in this weekend’s NFL Draft in Kansas City.
Nolan started 20 games throughout three seasons at Oregon State, throwing 4,153 yards and 32 touchdowns while completing 60.8% of his pass attempts. His best season came in 2021 when he threw for 2,677 yards and 19 touchdowns while completing 64.2% of his passes and finishing among the top four in the Pac-12 in passing yards, touchdown passes, and passer efficiency.
Nolan only started five games in 2022 because of an injury and entered the transfer portal when the first window opened on December 1. Oregon State landed a commitment from former Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei to replace him.
The senior becomes TCU’s most seasoned quarterback, joining sophomore Chandler Morris and redshirt freshman Josh Hoover — who have combined for just one collegiate start.
Many have considered Morris the favorite for the job as the initial starter from last year’s team.
