The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly prepared to reject an offer to visit the White House in celebration of a victory in Super Bowl LIX.

An anonymous source from the Eagles’ franchise spoke with the U.S. Sun and stated that discussions have already occurred about rejecting the offer.

The insider explained that those within the organization have spoken with players and executives about whether to attend a ceremony held at the White House, and the result was a “massive no.”

One player from the Eagles Super Bowl-winning team, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the U.S. Sun that “pretty much everyone” agreed to skip the visit to Washington D.C.

“We represent a city and a state that is pushing for equal rights, respect, and values that respect every human being,” added the player, per The U.S. Sun.

“We won’t forget what happened and the criticism we received for taking a stand against racism, and we won’t back down from our values of respect, integrity, and equality.”

A potential decision by the Eagles to skip a White House ceremony would not be too surprising, as the team elected to make the same decision following their Super Bowl victory in 2018.

Just four players remain from the team that won in 20178- Jake Elliott, Rick Lovato, Brandon Graham, and Lane Johnson – but many of these players are considered leaders in the Eagles’ locker room and will likely play a major role if the team visits this year.

Although the Eagles have already discussed whether to attend a potential ceremony, one source from within the White House stated that an official visitation offer has not been made to the team.

This source informed Clay Travis that the Eagles “have not rejected a White House invite.”

“The reports that have gone viral on social media are fake news. The White House has not even sent the official invite to the Eagles yet,” stated the source.
