Texas leads all other states in the number of active NFL players raised in the state, with nearly 300 Lone Star State natives taking the field this year, according to a study by BeenVerified.com.

Texas tops the list with 298 active NFL players, followed by California (288), Florida (271), and Georgia (213). However, the District of Columbia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama all send more players to the NFL when state population numbers are considered.

The study also looked at which cities produced the most NFL players and found Houston ties with Miami for the top player hometowns across the U.S. The study suggested that the two cities are home to 38 NFL players each.

Dallas comes in at No.6 on the national list, with 23 players calling it home.

Austin, Fort Worth, and San Antonio are three of the four places tying for the 16th spot, with each city serving as the home for ten current NFL athletes.

Arlington’s right behind them with nine players, tying with seven other cities for No.17. Seven players from Allen have the city in a tie with six other towns for 19th place.

DeSoto and Plano each have six NFL athletes, putting them in a tie with 12 other cities for 20th place.

The list of hometowns ends with 30 cities listed as tied for No.21, with four Texas cities in this batch — Beaumont, Frisco, Garland, and Humble, each producing five NFL players.

Texas is also No.1 for the number of NFL players’ high schools, according to the study.

Of the 24 high schools that produced at least five current NFL players, five are in Texas, while four are based in Florida and California.

In total, 336 active NFL players came from Texas high schools, followed by Florida (293), California (285), Georgia (232), Ohio (117), and Louisiana (103).

Allen High School is the alma mater of 11 current NFL players, good for fourth among all high schools in the U.S. DeSoto HS is tied with four other schools for seventh place for graduating six 2022 NFL players.

Atascocita High in Humble and Lake Travis High in Travis County are two of nine schools tied for eighth place with five alums in the NFL each.

When looking at where NFL players have come from since 1920, Texas once again leads the nation.  Historically, more NFL players have come from Texas (2,614) than any other state, followed closely by California (2,602), according to the study.
