Excitement among Dallas Cowboys’ fans is building after the recent announcement that the team would once again be highlighted on HBO’s Emmy Award-winning series “Hard Knocks” this summer.

Even Texas lawmakers have joined in on the buzz surrounding the team’s appearance on the show and have expressed their interest in watching the five-episode season.

“Sign me up,” State Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Allen) wrote in a July 2nd tweet.

Ken Rodgers, NFL Films vice president and senior coordinating producer, said the team “elicits strong reactions” from football fans across the globe.

“Tens of millions of fans love them, but just as many people love to hate them,” Rodgers said in a statement to the NFL. “Either way, when the Cowboys show up people watch, which makes them perfect for ‘Hard Knocks.'”

Rodgers said the team’s “high-profile status” and interesting plot lines make it a good fit for the series.

“We can’t thank [Jerry] Jones and [Mike] McCarthy enough for letting us tell the story behind what we hope is the beginning of an exciting year in Dallas,” Rodgers said in the statement to the NFL.

Known as “America’s Team,” the Cowboys will become the first team to appearance on “Hard Knocks” for a third time, with the first episode scheduled to air on Tuesday, Aug. 10, ESPN reported.

According to ESPN, the Cowboys last appeared on the program 13 years ago and first appeared in the series back in 2002.

A report by the NFL stated this appearance on “Hard Knocks” will depict the 2021 Cowboys as a team seeking redemption for a 2020 season marred by a rash of injuries, the worst among them being quarterback Dak Prescott’s season-ending ankle injury. Dallas limped to a 6-10 finish and took up residency toward the bottom of the NFC East.
