Seventh Inning Dooms Rangers

The Texas Rangers continued their season in Boston Thursday night, while the Frisco RoughRiders were rained out.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (51-37, first in American League West)

Last Game: Boston Red Sox 10, Rangers 6

This game was tied, 4-4, after six innings, but Boston scored six runs on five singles with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to take the series. Corey Seager pulled the Rangers within four with a solo shot in the ninth, but Josh Jung grounded into a double play to end the game.

Noteworthy: Texas loses two of three in Boston but maintains a two-game lead over Houston in the AL West.

— The Rangers have activated reliever Jose Leclerc from the 15-day injured list and optioned Joe Barlow to Triple-A Round Rock.

— Former Boston pitcher Nathan Eovaldi started for the Rangers and allowed four earned runs over five-and-a-third innings.

— Seager has now reached base in 25 consecutive games.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (35-41, fifth in Texas League South division, eighth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: Midland Rockhounds (38-39) at RoughRiders, Postponed

Thursday’s game between the RoughRiders and the RockHounds was postponed because of inclement weather and will be played as part of a doubleheader on Friday. The teams will play two seven-inning games with a 30-minute break between them.

Noteworthy: Texas Rangers reliever Jose Leclerc has completed his rehab assignment with Frisco. Leclerc made two appearances and allowed one run.

— Frisco has three players in the top eight in the Texas League in batting average: outfielder Evan Carter (third), shortstop Luisangel Acuna (seventh), and infielder Thomas Saggese (eighth).

— Acuna also leads the league in stolen bases with 33.

Next Up: RockHounds at RoughRiders, 5:15 p.m. CT Friday (Game 1), Game 2 approx. 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1
