Former Rockwall-Heath Hawks girls soccer team member Halley Wheeler’s euphoria couldn’t be contained when she sealed her commitment to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB).

More than a month before she graduated, Wheeler tweeted, “So blessed and incredibly excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 soccer at UAPB next fall!!! I can’t thank my family, friends and coaches enough for the countless years of support and encouragement. I can’t wait to be a golden lion!”

Wheeler also capped her prep career by earning District 10-6A Midfielder of the Year honors.

As a junior, she was an Academic All-District honoree.

Aside from lettering with Rockwall-Heath, Wheeler suited up for Sting Royal U19 ECNL-RL and the FC Dallas youth program, the website FieldLevel reported.

She was named to the Fellowship of Christian Athletics All District Blue Team for women’s soccer, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported.

Wheeler joins a UAPB women’s soccer team that would love nothing more than to rebound from a 4-9 campaign.
