Richland College’s women’s soccer program secured homegrown talent in the form of Wylie graduate Emery Gilbert.

Gilbert, formerly a midfielder for the Wylie Lady Pirates, officially committed to the Dallas-area community college in May.

“Wylie High celebrated five more student-athletes who are headed to the next level,” Wylie ISD posted on Facebook on May 19. “We are proud of these Pirates!”

Gilbert’s prep career was essentially a story of a player who paid her dues.

She played at the JV level from 2017 to 2019 and was elevated to the varsity during her upperclassman years.

She left Wylie with an honorable mention for Second Team All-District, the Wylie News reported.

At the club level, she suited up for Sting Dallas in 2019.
