Billboard magazine has named Dickies Arena in Fort Worth as one of the top venues in the world based on capacity and gross income.

The magazine looked at four different seating capacity ranges (less than 5,000, 5,001-10,000; 10,001-15,000; 15,001 or more) based on voluntary information from November 1, 2022, through April 30, 2023, and ranked the top 10 arenas by gross income in each category.

Dickies Arena placed second in the 10,001-15,000 group, trailing only OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Fort Worth is an incredible market with a passion for entertainment and it is wonderful that our Cowtown-Funky Town is gaining more recognition worldwide,” President and General Manager of Dickies Arena Matt Homan said in a press release emailed to The Dallas Express. “It is a great honor to make the Billboard top 10 list and we will continue to bring great shows to the city of Fort Worth.”

Dickies Arena hosted 80 shows during the designated period and grossed $39,919,226 while welcoming more than 610,910 people into the venue.

The arena opened in November 2019 in west Fort Worth near the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum as the product of a 2014 vote to develop a new multi-purpose arena. It hosts concerts, sporting events, and rodeos, among other events, and can hold up to 14,000 people.

Dickies Arena, managed by Trail Drive Management Corporation, is also home to the Panther City Lacrosse Club of the National Lacrosse League. The team has played there since its debut in November 2021.

In the coming months, Dickies Arena will host comedy shows from Dave Chappelle and Nate Bargatze and several concerts from artists like Pearl Jam and NEEDTOBREATHE. The venue will also host the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in May 2024.

Grand Prairie’s Texas Trust CU Theatre also made the cut at No.9 in the 5,001-10,000 category.

“We are thrilled our Texas Trust Credit Union Theatre has been named the 9th best venue in the world by Billboard Magazine,” Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen told The Dallas Express through a spokesperson in an email.

“It is a beautiful venue featuring great shows with a broad range of appeal.  The staff is wonderful at making your visit an experience to remember.”

Acts like Jackson Browne, Bill Maher, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Dwight Yoakam, Josh Turner, Dane Cook, and the Temptations will perform in Grand Prairie later this year.

London’s O2 Arena was the top arena that seats more than 15,000 people, while New York’s Radio City Music Hall (5,001-10,000) and Tampa, Florida’s Straz Center for the Performing Arts (less than 5,000) were the other winning venues in their respective categories.
