The Texas Rangers, Frisco RoughRiders, and Dallas Wings played Wednesday night.

Here is what happened on the field, on the court, and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (51-36, first in American League West)

Last Game: Boston Red Sox 4, Rangers 2

Justin Turner knocked in two runs and scored once over the first five innings.

Adolis Garcia hit a two-run home run for the Rangers in the top of the sixth to make it a one-run game, but Boston added another in the bottom of the inning, and the Red Sox bullpen shut down the Rangers’ offense after starter Brayan Bello finished seven innings.

Noteworthy: The Rangers’ lead in the AL West is down to two games over the Houston Astros with four to play before the All-Star break.

— Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia and Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert have been announced as the last two participants in Monday’s home run derby. Garcia will be the fourth seed and face Tampa Bay’s Randy Arozarena in the first round.

— Garcia leads the MLB with 71 RBIs this season, one ahead of Atlanta’s Matt Olson. He is also tied for sixth with 22 home runs.

— Shortstop Corey Seager went 3-4 and extended his on-base streak to 24 consecutive games.

Next Up: Rangers at Red Sox (44-43), 6:10 p.m. CT Thursday

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (35-41, fifth in Texas League South division, eighth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: Midland RockHounds 13, RoughRiders 4

Midland took a 4-0 lead in the third, but Frisco cut the deficit to one in the sixth. However, the RockHounds scored eight runs off Theo McDowell and Eudrys Manon in the ninth to pull away.

Jax Biggers was the only RoughRider to reach base in the ninth as Frisco fell for the first time this series.

Noteworthy: The game maneuvered around a one-hour, 10-minute weather delay.

— A day after having his 12-game hit streak snapped, designated hitter Trevor Hauver hit two home runs, which accounted for all four Frisco runs.

— The loss snaps a four-game home winning streak.

Next Up: RockHounds (38-39) at RoughRiders, 7:05 p.m. CT Thursday

WNBA

Dallas Wings (8-9, tied second in Western Conference)

Last Game: Las Vegas Aces 89, Wings 82

The Wings led the WNBA’s best team at the half but could not hang on for the win. Las Vegas outscored Dallas, 47-31, in the second half and took the lead on a Kiah Stokes bucket early in the fourth quarter. The Wings regained a four-point edge, but the Aces ended the game on a 17-6 run to improve to 16-1 on the season.

Noteworthy: Dallas is tied with Minnesota for second in the Western Conference, eight games behind Las Vegas.

— Natasha Howard led the Wings with 32 points and 13 rebounds, her most since 2019.

— Las Vegas entered the game averaging 40 points per game in the paint, yet only scored 34 on Wednesday.
