The Texas Rangers continued their season with the first of a four-game set against the Detroit Tigers at home.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (47-31, first in American League West)

Last Game: Detroit Tigers 7, Rangers 2

Marcus Semien hit the second pitch he saw for a home run, but the Rangers could not muster much more offense aside from an Adolis Garcia homer in the fourth. Andy Ibanez’s three-run shot gave the Tigers a 4-1 lead, and they piled on with a two-run blast from Jake Rogers and a sacrifice fly from Javy Baez. Texas loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but Corey Seager flew out to end the game.

Noteworthy: The Rangers have now lost three games in a row and lead the AL West by five games.

— Texas had eight hits but went 0-10 with runners in scoring position (RISP) and left nine on base.
