The Rangers prevailed in extra innings on Friday but could not come away with a series win in New York. Adolis Garcia’s two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning started the series on a positive note, but Texas failed to score against Luis Severino and five New York bullpen arms the next night. Harrison Bader and Giancarlo Stanton helped the Yankees score three runs in the bottom of the eighth to waste a good Sunday outing from Nathan Eovaldi.
Noteworthy: The Rangers lead the AL West by 5.5 games over the Houston Astros.
— Rangers No.2 prospect Owen White has been selected to play in the 2023 MLB Futures Game as part of the All-Star week festivities in Seattle. The game features some of the top prospects around Minor League Baseball and will be played on July 8.
— Reliever Jose LeClerc has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a right ankle sprain, and the club has recalled reliever Yerry Rodriguez from Triple-A Round Rock.
— Texas has not won a road series against the Yankees since 2017.

Frisco RoughRiders (31-37, fifth in Texas League South division, eighth in AA Texas League)
Last Games: RoughRiders 8, Springfield Cardinals 5; RoughRiders 11, Cardinals 7; RoughRiders 9, Cardinals 6
Frisco’s offense was on full display this weekend, scoring 28 runs in three games. The RoughRiders scored eight runs between the third and fourth innings in a comeback win on Friday, used four homers to fight off a Springfield rally on Saturday, and utilized a six-run seventh to pull away on Sunday.
Noteworthy: The three wins earned Frisco a series split after losing the first three games against the Cardinals earlier in the week.
— The four home runs on Saturday were the most for the RoughRiders in a game this season
— Infielder Thomas Saggese is on a 14-game hitting streak after a 2-3 performance on Sunday. He is fourth in Minor League Baseball in batting average since June 10.
–Reliever Alex Speas picked up the win on Sunday to improve to 3-0 with an 0.64 ERA in 23 games.
— The crowd for Sunday’s game was the team’s biggest since 2019.

Dallas Wings (6-8, third in Western Conference)
Last Games: Los Angeles Sparks 76, Wings 74; Sparks 93, Wings 83
The Los Angeles Sparks swept the Wings over the weekend. The Sparks mounted a 17-point comeback to earn a two-point victory behind Nneka Ogwumike and Jordin Canada, who sunk two free throws with 54.1 seconds left to win the game. On Sunday, the Sparks took the lead late in the first quarter and never looked back as Ogwumike scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 10-point win.
Noteworthy: Dallas drops to third place in the Western Conference, trailing Las Vegas by 6.5 games and Los Angeles by one.
— Guard Arike Ogunbowale and forward Satou Sabally have been named starters for the WNBA All-Star Game. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 15, in Las Vegas.
— Dallas plays Phoenix on Tuesday, which will be the Mercury’s first game since dismissing head coach Vanessa Nygaard.
