The secret is out about Plano East rising star Jake Jennings.

One of the Plano East players Vype.com described as a secret weapon earlier this season has earned a scholarship to the University of Texas at Dallas.

“I am beyond blessed to announce that I will continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Texas at Dallas,” Jennings recently posted on Twitter. “I’d like the thank everyone that has helped me along this journey.”

Jennings’ star power was on display from the onset this season when he lashed four hits against Hebron in the Panthers’ district opener, including three extra base hits (two doubles, triple). Plano East opened the season by posting victories in 13 of their first 18 games. Jennings credits much of his progress to his off-season workout routine, especially all the recent work he’s done with Champion Sports Performance.

“Physically, I have grown a lot bigger and faster. I’ve caught up to all the people that I thought of as ‘fast’ and it is all thanks to my work at Champion Sports Performance,” he said on the Champion Sports website. “For baseball, my hitting power and pitching speed have skyrocketed since I started working with Champion Sports Performance. This is thanks to workouts created to optimize the skillset needed to throw harder and hit farther.”

Jennings was also named to the THSCA Academic All-State Team, joining teammates Colton Shaw, Jake Lubow and Patrick Wheelis.
