Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb discussed the organization’s recent trade for George Pickens and said the team now has two first options at the position.
Lamb and Pickens were in attendance over the weekend at a charity softball game hosted by Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in Scottsdale, Arizona, choosing to answer some questions about the upcoming season.
When asked about which player would be the team’s main option next season, Lamb said neither player will have to worry about it since both will shine in their roles.
“We both ones,” said Lamb as Pickens agreed, per DLLS Cowboys.
“It ain’t no A, B, none of that. It’s one. You look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that.”
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, few teams in the NFL can boast two prominent receivers like the Cowboys.
Realistically, just five or six teams have an argument for a better pair of wide receivers in the league, giving the Cowboys one of the most explosive duos heading into the 2025 regular season.
Lamb finished the 2024 regular season with the ninth-most receiving yards in the NFL, collecting 1,194 yards and six touchdowns despite quarterback Dak Prescott missing the majority of the season with an injury.
Pickens also lit up the stat sheet for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, finishing with 900 receiving yards and three touchdowns while only playing in 14 games.
The biggest aspect of this trade is the playstyle of the two players. Lamb and Pickens possess incredibly different styles that should complement each other well.
Pickens shines brightest when tasked with beating his defender on deep routes and creating explosive plays in contested situations.
Meanwhile, Lamb is at his best when given space and the chance to create yards after the catch, making the pairing perfect for a style the Cowboys will look to play next season.
Dallas will now have roughly three months to develop chemistry on offense before the beginning of the season, with the Cowboys scheduled to open the season in Philadelphia against the Eagles on September 4.
