The entire piece is expected to be 10 parts and will feature many people who Cowboys fans have become familiar with, as Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman, and Michael Irvin were each featured in the trailer for the docuseries.
This trailer even featured former President George W. Bush saying that the Cowboys “became America’s Team.”
Although the trailer did not feature the full list of participants, the docuseries is also expected to include former Cowboys head coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer, and Nike founder Phil Knight, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Jones further narrates portions of the trailer in which he says he wants to “keep ‘em talking” and that the Cowboys organization is “a soap opera 365 days a year.”
The full docuseries will be released exclusively on Netflix at some point in 2025, though no official release date for the show has been announced.
This trailer comes months after the NFL first announced that it had teamed up with Sundance Films, NFL Films, and Stardust Frames Productions to create this docuseries. The NFL stated that the series would show the “definitive story of Jerry Jones and his unique journey in transforming the Dallas Cowboys franchise.”
The NFL added that the docuseries will explore how Jones and the Cowboys led a “historic set of players and coaches to three NFL titles in the 1990s” while also “searing his imprint into the global sports business landscape.”
Charlotte Jones, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, said in a 2023 statement about the docuseries that it is a “true honor” to work with those involved in telling the story of her father.
“Sharing my father’s journey and his passion for the game, while presenting it in partnership with this talented and accomplished group will take sports fans, fans of business, families, and everyone watching on an adventure like none other,” she added, per NFL.com.
