Multiple Dallas Cowboys players have provided crucial injury updates as the team prepares for the 2025 NFL season.

Brief updates on linebacker Demarvion Overshown and defensive end Sam Williams have come out in recent days. Both players look to be healthy for next season, though neither player has said whether they will be able to start the year.

Overshown, who suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL, spoke with Kay Adams on the Up & Adams show and said he is preparing to play early in the season.

“I’ve been through it before, but this time it feels way easier. The mental side is really what I’m focusing on because I know physically I’m going to be okay,” he said.

“The problem most people have coming off something like this is just having confidence that they’re that guy that they was before.”

Overshown said he would prefer to be “strapping up” toward the end of the Cowboys’ training camp, adding that they are “being safe” with the process because “it’s a long game.”

“Being young in my career, it’s something you don’t want to rush. So, probably start off on the PUP list, but I’m not throwing away starting off in Week 1. That’s something I’m working for,” he said to Adams.

The Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list is a common designation for players who are unable to start the season for a team, which requires a player to miss a minimum of four games to start the season.

Dallas also provided an update on Williams in the “Next Man Up” series, who tore his ACL in the preseason and was unable to play a single snap for the Cowboys last year.

The Cowboys wrote that the defensive end’s “status remains uncertain regarding whether he will start on the PUP list.”

“However, his eagerness to excel and claim his place in the Cowboys’ defense is evident. If healthy, he aims to leverage increased playing time as a chance to establish himself as a pivotal player,” continued the report.

Williams starting the season on the PUP would also require him to miss the first four games of the season, which would provide opportunities for other players on the roster to take a step forward.
