Martin’s Mill junior golfer Mia Nixon lapped the field on the way to earning her second straight UIL 2A state girls golf title.

Nixon shot a five-under 31 over nine holes in Day 2 play before the rains halted play early. She entered play after the first round leading by six strokes and finished with a 104 combined score.

“Congratulations to Mia Nixon, state champion,” reads a Facebook post on the school’s Athletic Booster Club page.

As a freshman, Nixon also bagged the 2A state crown before COVID-19 shut down play last season.

Nixon is currently ranked No. 127 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings. She and her brother, Kevin, were both set to compete at state after both recently medaled at the regionals held at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club in Jacksonville.

At regionals, Mia Nixon carded a 140 (72-68) to bag medalist honors by 50 strokes, while Kevin won with a score of 158.
