The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly offering refunds to fans attempting to return season tickets after the unexpected trade of superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dallas announced one of the most shocking trades in NBA history over the weekend when news broke that Dončić would be sent to Los Angeles in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a future first-round draft pick.

Unsurprisingly, many Mavericks were upset by the trade news and expressed their displeasure with both the decision and process.

Season ticket holder Adam Emerson said he was “absolutely appalled” by the decision to trade Dončić, noting that the Adelson family should “Sell the team” and “Go back home.”

“Personally, [the Adelsons] won’t be getting any of my money or time or effort of going to their arena 41 times a year,” he explained, according to WFAA.

The Dallas Mavericks franchise has not publicly offered an across-the-board refund for all ticket holders but said that a sales representative could discuss refund requests, indicating that it is unlikely that full refunds will be available for every request.

“Regarding refunds, we value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions,” stated the team, according to WFAA.

Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison said he understands why fans would be upset about the trade but said, “It’s something that we believe in as an organization.”

“It’s going to make us better. We believe that it sets us up to win, not only now, but also in the future. And when we win, I believe the frustration will go away,” he said, according to the New York Post.

The Mavericks organization also commented on the recent reports that season ticket prices will increase next season, disputing fan claims that the organization has informed them about price increases.

“Regarding tickets, no determination has been made about season ticket pricing for the 2025-26 Season. Season ticket members will hear from their reps over the next few weeks,” said the franchise, according to Bleacher Report.
