The Dallas Mavericks will no longer have games broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest during the 2024-25 season after Diamond Sports Group terminated the contract between the two sides.

Diamond Sports Group, which broadcasts NBA games on Bally Sports regional sports networks (RSNs), mutually terminated contracts with the Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans, per The Dallas Morning News. The company is continuing to deal with bankruptcy concerns that arose in March 2023.

The company came to an agreement with the NBA to stream the games of 13 teams during the 2024-25 season; however, both the Mavericks and Pelicans opted against the agreement and will pursue other options, according to WFAA.

A spokesperson for the NBA stated that both franchises “declined to continue distributing their games on Diamond RSNs” and that the “new agreement is subject to approval by the bankruptcy court,” as reported by The Athletic.

David Preschlack, Diamond Sports CEO, said the company is “appreciative of the ongoing collaboration and long-term partnerships with the NBA and NHL” and is looking forward to what’s next.

“These new agreements that cover NBA and NHL linear and (direct-to-consumer) rights are another major milestone and continue Diamond’s momentum toward emergence, which will enable us to provide value for our NBA and NHL partners and continue to serve dedicated local NBA, NHL and MLB fans,” he added, according to The Athletic.

“Having completed negotiations with key partners that provide certainty around our content and distribution, Diamond is well positioned for the future. With the support of our creditors, we are focused on finalizing our reorganization plan to support our emergence and presenting that plan to the court in due course.”

While the Pelicans reportedly have a deal set up for streaming games in the upcoming season, it remains unclear what the Mavericks’ plan will be for the year.

Dallas is slated to have 30 nationally televised games during the 2024-25 season, which, per Sports Illustrated, is tied with the Phoenix Suns for the fifth-most nationally televised games in the season.

The Mavericks could explore options similar to those the Dallas Stars announced in July. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the team will now stream all games on the brand-new VICTORY+ Sports Network.
