According to reports, Malik Hooker just visited the Dallas Cowboys on Friday for a second time during this off-season in search of a deal, Ian Rapoport tweets.
The Dallas Cowboys are in need of a safety for next season and have been searching for one this off-season. Hooker, although recovering from an Achilles tear last September, is a very talented first-string player for the Indianapolis Colts and is expected to sign with the Cowboys, as long as he proves to be healthy enough to play.
Hooker has been playing in the NFL since 2017. The Colts selected him as the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, the Colts allowed Hooker to walk into free agency over a year ago because of his consistent injuries and recurring inability to finish a full season, which sapped the Colts’ high expectations for the rising star.
Hooker has been visiting many teams since he became a free agent. He visited the Cowboys earlier this year in March with Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee, who both ended up signing with the Cowboys. He also visited the Miami Dolphins, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers in early June.
Hooker only played two games last season and has already endured ACL, MCL, and Achilles injuries in his 4 years as a professional football player. But, at the young age of 25, with seven interceptions, 124 tackles, and 35 games as a first-stringer, he still has plenty of potential and a long career ahead of him.
