A new athletic coordinator and head football coach was announced Tuesday at a Plano Independent School District (ISD) meeting.

Cody White was announced by Jeff Banner, principal of Plano Senior High School.

“After a long and thorough search accompanied by a very competitive interview process, I’m thrilled and excited to announce our new head coach and athletic director for Plano Senior High Wildcats,” Banner said during the meeting, according to Community Impact.

White has more than 28 years of experience as a coach and was a three-time Tennessee Football Coach of the Year. He most recently served as athletic director and head football coach at Brentwood Academy.

“I am beyond humbled to have the opportunity to lead the football program at Plano Senior High,” White said in a statement.

“The tradition, administrative support and upward trajectory of the school makes this an incredibly exciting position. I look forward to being able to serve the student-athletes, coaches, teachers, and the community in this role. Go Wildcats!”

Jeff Smith, athletic director for Plano ISD, likewise welcomed White.

“Coach White has been a very successful football coach and athletic director throughout his career, and we look forward to the positive impact he will have with all of our athletic programs,” Smith said in a statement.

“As we move forward together, we look forward to supporting Coach White as he leads our Plano Wildcats!”

The Wildcats have an overall record of 17-31 in the last five seasons.

Board President David Stolle said that they were really happy White was there.

“No pressure, of course,” Stolle said to White during the meeting, according to Community Impact.

White attended Baylor University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in education. He also earned an education in administration master’s at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. No stranger to football, he played on the collegiate level at Southwest Texas State University.
