This winning streak may be a little harder to “Shake it off.”

It seems the Chicago Cubs have a new good luck charm in international pop sensation Taylor Swift.

Swift is no slouch when it comes to mega wins and selling out major stadiums. But it seems she has a little magic in racking up wins for Big League ball clubs.

Or so says the Cubs manager Craig Counsell.

And Counsell knows a thing or two about winning, having won two World Series as a player.

The Daily Mail has the story on how Swift is helping the Cubs:

The Chicago Cubs can thank Taylor Swift for winning five of their last six games as manager Craig Counsell revealed that the popstar brings good fortune to the team.

Since August 22nd, the Cubs (67-66) have beaten the Detroit Tigers once, and the Miami Marlins and Pittsburgh Pirates twice to go above .500 and contend for a a wild card spot in the National League, ranking second in the NL Central.

On Tuesday, ahead of the Cubs’ 9-5 away win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Counsell revealed that his bullpen has been red hot ever since he was given an item with Swift’s face on it.

‘I think we have to start with Taylor Swift… there are a lot of Swifties in Cubs nation and there might be some luck coming from those Swifties that’s impacted the Cubs,’ said Marquee Sports Network reporter Taylor McGregor before asking Counsell: ‘Can you describe the impact of Taylor Swift as of later?’

Amused, Counsell, 54, replied: ‘I was gifted a Taylor Swift candle and we’ve been lighting that before games in my office with clubhouse manager Danny Miller… And uhm… We’ve found a nice little run here so gonna credit Taylor Swift.’

Cubs fans praised Counsell and Swift for improver the team later on X.

‘It’s only crazy if it doesn’t work. This is prime baseball science,’ a user pointed out.

‘If the Cubs make the playoffs, I’ll listen to every one of her songs from her 1st album to her last,’ vowed a Chicago resident.

‘We have no choice but to stan Taylor Swift now,’ admitted another.

‘Candle? Sounds demonic… almost like she’s a witch…,’ someone else said, referring to Swift.
