Rockwall County is abuzz this week thanks to an all-Rockwall Independent School District region final that was set up by Rockwall-Heath’s 3-2 Game 2 victory over Tomball in the Class 6A Region 2 semifinal.
Heath relief pitcher Caden Fiveash put down two Tomball scoring threats to help usher in the matchup against arch-rival Rockwall.
“Fired up to see this rivalry hit the big stage! After splitting the District 10-6A season series and playing one heck of a seeding game, Rockwall @Rockbaseball and Heath @HeathHawksBB will match up yet again to be the Region II rep at the state tournament,” the 6ATxHSBaseball Twitter account tweeted on May 29.
In addition to bragging rights and a ticket to state, the Hawks seek to avenge two losses to the Yellowjackets, including a 14-13 loss on May 4.
Heath, which won the Class 4A state championship in 2012, is in its fourth regional final in program history.
