The Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets will officially face off in the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Game 1 of this series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, at 8:30 p.m. at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.

Both teams won a seven-game first-round series to advance to the playoffs, with the Stars defeating the Colorado Avalanche and the Jets defeating the St. Louis Blues.

The Stars are looking to build on the momentum from recent seasons and could make the Western Conference Finals for a third consecutive year. However, Winnipeg could be Dallas’ toughest opponent for the entire postseason.

Winnipeg finished the first portion of the year with a regular-season record of 56-22-4, the best record in the Eastern and Western Conferences.

A victory for the Jets in this series would result in their first Western Conference Finals appearance since the 2018 season.

The Jets have become a familiar opponent for the Stars following a season series in which these two teams faced off four separate times.

However, Dallas struggled in these matchups and finished the regular season with a record of just 1-3 against the Jets, scoring only six goals combined in the four games.

The second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs means an even more grueling schedule for the teams still playing, as every game in this series is scheduled to occur every other day.

While Dallas struggled against the Jets during the regular season, Stars goalie Jake Oettinger seems confident that the team can take down anyone remaining in the playoffs.

“I have a hard time believing that there’s any team that’s that much better than Colorado out there left, so we’ve got to play the right way,” he explained, per NHL.com.

“I think if we do that, focus on one game at a time, not get ahead of ourself and maybe try to win Game 1, we can go from there.”
