The owner of the Dallas Stars, Tom Gaglardi, plans to introduce another restaurant to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Tavern Collective plans to open the Tavern on Meridian inside Irving’s new Sandman Signature hotel at 1311 Meridian Dr.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Northland Properties Corp., a Vancouver, Canada-based company led by Gaglardi, which has numerous businesses in construction, entertainment, and hospitality.
This is not Northland’s first foray into dining in DFW. Under Gaglardi, Northland opened the popular Canadian chain Moxies Grill & Bar at The Crescent in Uptown Dallas in 2016. Additional locations followed in Southlake, Plano, and Houston.
Patrons of Tavern on Meridian can expect a pub-like atmosphere serving up Detroit-style pizza, burgers, and even poutine. The chain currently has only two other locations, both of which are in Canada.
Tavern on Meridian is expected to boast a steampunk-inspired design, include arcade games, and feature signature cocktails.
“Things are heating up at Meridian, we’re excited to announce that our doors will officially open on October 17th. Reserve your spot to be one of the first to savor Meridian’s fire-kissed flavors, chef-driven dishes, and cocktails that spark the conversation,” read a recent post on Instagram.
The Dallas Express previously reported that another Canadian chain, Craft Restaurant and Beer Market, is expected to open its first U.S. location at Preston Center early next year. The new establishment will cover over 10,000 square feet and serve more than 100 beers on tap. Dallas was chosen as the chain’s first U.S. location outside of Canada because of the partnership between the chain’s founder, PJ L’Heureux, and Gaglardi.
