Dallas Cowboys fans are calling for defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to be fired following another disappointing performance from one of the league’s worst-ranked defenses.
The discussion took center stage in the latest episode of “In or Out” on Dallas Sports Network, after the defensive coordinator took a beating on X this week. DSN hosts debated whether the Cowboys should move on from Eberflus immediately or wait until the end of the season.
“Matt Eberflus, thank you for your services,” host Chris Yates read from a Cowboy fan’s X post to open the segment. “It’s time for the Cowboys to cut ties with Matt and try to save the season before it’s too late. Waiting until the offseason makes no sense. You guys in or out?” host Chris Yates asked to open the segment.
Analyst Scooter Magruder strongly agreed, emphasizing that the defensive coordinator has failed to improve the struggling unit. “He has shown nothing through these first couple of weeks that gives you any hope that this defense is going to get better whatsoever,” Magruder said.
He added that Eberflus has ignored player input about defensive schemes. “He’s not taking players’ opinions that we should be running more man coverage when we have man personnel in, Diggs and players like that,” he continued. “This has just been a comedy of errors from the beginning. I don’t even know why we hired Matt Eberflus in the first place.”
Co-hosts acknowledged that owner Jerry Jones rarely makes coaching changes mid-season, though the mounting criticism could test that tradition. “The longer he stays on the Cowboys, the more the fans are growing irate and the less confidence our players have in that defense,” Magruder said.
Despite improved play in a recent matchup against the Washington Commanders, the Cowboys’ defense remains statistically the worst in the NFL. The conversation online has grown louder, with fans demanding accountability as the team risks falling out of playoff contention.
