Locally-aired broadcasts of the Mavericks and Stars will be more accessible for Dallas sports fans for $19.99 a month or an annual payment of $189.99.

That is the price of the new streaming service announced this week, Bally Sports+.

Fans of the Mavericks, Rangers, and Stars living in Dallas have had minimal options in where to watch their favorite team play locally televised games in recent years.

Over the last two years, Bally Sports Southwest, the local channel that owns the rights to all non-nationally televised Mavericks, Stars, and Rangers broadcasts, has been dropped by nearly all cable providers and all but one streaming service, DirectTV Stream.

Bally Sports+ will launch on September 26 and allow sports fans in the DFW area to watch Mavericks games and Stars games. However, the new service will not broadcast Texas Rangers games for now.

“Currently only select regions offer their live MLB games on the Bally Sports+ app, including Bally Sports Detroit, Bally Sports Florida, Bally Sports Kansas City, Bally Sports Wisconsin and Bally Sports Sun,” reads the announcement of the new streaming service.

Bally Sports is “in discussions with MLB and our other MLB team partners to expand our offering next year.”

Bally Sports+ will not be a standalone app, either. The streaming service will be provided from the already existing Bally Sports app and on BallySports.com.

The company said that those who already get Bally Sports through their TV provider would have nothing change.

“You will continue to get your teams as you always have on TV and via the Bally Sports app,” Bally Sports said in its FAQ section.

Compared to other streaming services, Bally Sports+ is costly. ESPN+ costs $6.99 monthly and broadcasts NHL, NCAA football and basketball, and MLB games.

Paramount+ costs $9.99 per month and offers UEFA Champions League soccer and other CBS sporting events on its service. Peacock’s monthly cost is $4.99 and features English Premier League soccer and MLB games.

Still, Bally Sports+ will at least cut through the confusion regarding where to watch the Mavericks and Stars, so its high price may be worth it to the most avid Dallas sports fans.
