The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to the NFL’s first-ever cryptocurrency partnership with Blockchain.com as the team’s “exclusive digital asset partner.” The website allows people to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrency.

The deal gives Blockchain.com branding and TV, radio, and digital advertising opportunities, along with club space inside AT&T Stadium and other incentives. The team also says they will host an educational summit in the future to familiarize fans with the cryptocurrency spaces.

Blockchain.com co-founder and CEO Peter Smith and Cowboys owner and President Jerry Jones appeared at The Star in Frisco on Wednesday to announce the partnership. They did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

Jones said he is excited about the historic agreement.

“When you have a chance to really delve into the kind of future that you have in the digital world, I wanted the Dallas Cowboys to be a part of that future in any and every way we could,” Jones said.

Smith added that one of the partnership’s goals is to educate people about cryptocurrency.

“Over the course of our long-term partnership, our goal is to partner with the Dallas Cowboys on helping the world to understand cryptocurrency,” Smith said.

Blockchain.com was founded in 2011. Used by over 80 million people in 200 countries, its transactions total $1.2 trillion to date. According to a Bloomberg report, the company reached a value of $14 billion in March.

Exclusive fan experiences and rewards will be offered through Blockchain.com as part of its partnership with the Cowboys. Those could include VIP trips to away games and player-hosted events.

The website will also run an online promotion giving Cowboys fans who buy $100 of crypto within the next week a $50 bonus.

Smith said Blockchain.com chose the Cowboys because of the team’s status among sports franchises. The Cowboys rank as the world’s most valuable sports franchise at $6.5 billion, and Jones has been successful at helping corporate sponsors tied to the team grow.

“As another founder who’s leading my business and building my business, it’s incredibly important not just to be partnered with the best brands and the best teams in America, but … to be partnered with teams that are led by the founders,” Smith said. “It’s incredibly exciting and an honor to be partnered with the Dallas Cowboys.”

“I know a little bit about being wise when it comes to a dollar,” Jones said. “And wouldn’t you know, I’ve had my share of mess-ups, too, but I do have some instincts. Blockchain.com is going to be the way to go in this country, and the Dallas Cowboys are going to put everything we’ve got behind it to make it a household word.”
