The Dallas Cowboys are prepared to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10 at 3:25 p.m., with the expectation that star linebacker Micah Parsons will return to the field after missing the past four games.
Parsons will take the field for the first time since he suffered a left ankle sprain in the fourth quarter during a win against the New York Giants in Week 4, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Although the fourth-year linebacker has not posted impressive statistics to begin the season, collecting just 14 tackles and one sack, he is one of the most integral pieces of the Cowboys’ defense.
Parsons spoke about his return to the field and said he hopes to “go out there and prove” that he is a difference maker for this team.
“I feel like it’s tough because I feel like I (would’ve) made an impact in those games… In those games where we’re losing by six points, I definitely I could’ve made a difference in those games,” he said, according to NBC’s Pat Doney.
The loss of Parsons following Week 4 has proven significant for the Cowboys’ defense, which has allowed at least 27 points in three of the four games without its star linebacker.
Another notable change from the Cowboys’ defense comes from the overall scoring of the group, as the Cowboys have yet to force a single turnover this season that resulted in immediate points.
This lack of scoring defense is a noticeable shift after Dallas was the most explosive scoring defense in the league during the 2023 season, collecting five interceptions and one fumble recovered for touchdowns.
Dallas will now have to activate this defense as it prepares to finish the season without quarterback Dak Prescott. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Prescott is expected to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn hamstring.
The plethora of injuries has contributed to the Cowboys’ 3-5 start to the season, which has them in third place in the NFC East and 13th in the NFC playoffs.
