While most people generally sell their homes and move or perhaps build an addition to their house when it no longer meets their needs, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has taken a different approach. On Tuesday, he tore down his multi-million-dollar dollar mansion in Prosper so he could build a completely new abode.
The 9,000-square-foot house, which Prescott purchased in 2019 for $3.3 million, was recently valued at between $4.7 million to $5.4 million on various real estate websites, CultureMap reported. The home, originally built in 2012, featured five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, and a six-car garage. In addition, the house had a craft room, game room, media room, sports simulator screen and projector, full bar, and a jumbotron with four TVs.
The house sat on a little over seven acres of land, on which Prescott had added a football field and a golf course. The land itself accounts for about $1.5 million of the total market value of the property, according to the Collin County Appraisal District records.
Prescott enlisted the help of Dude Perfect, a five-member sports and comedy group from Frisco, to tear down the house, a task they seemed to tackle with relish — and a heavy-duty excavator. The Dude Perfect team captured footage of the demolition work, using a drone for some aerial views, which they will likely use in an upcoming video on their website.
By Tuesday afternoon, the beautiful mansion had been reduced to a pile of rubble.
Prescott reportedly alerted neighbors beforehand about the demolition, telling them that he planned to rebuild on the same site. TMZ reported that Prescott intends to build a more modern home better suited to his needs.
Dak has recently expanded his family, as his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos gave birth to their daughter earlier this year. Just last month, the 31-year-old athlete signed a four-year, $240 million deal with the Cowboys, making him the highest-paid player in the NFL, as Fox 4 KDFW reported.
