The Dallas Cowboys have entered into a three-year partnership with Spanish-language media giant TelevisaUnivision, the team announced Friday.

As part of the agreement, TelevisaUnivision will broadcast all Cowboys preseason games in Mexico through 2024, beginning with their Saturday evening matchup against the Denver Broncos, which will be streamed on ViX, a service owned by the media company.

Mexico’s most established NFL broadcaster team, Enrique Burak, Toño de Valdés, and Pepe Segarra, will commentate on the games, including Saturday’s exhibition. The broadcasting trio, nicknamed “Los Tres Amigos,” have called every Super Bowl in Mexico since 1986.

In addition to preseason games, the Cowboys will distribute weekly in-house media content to TelevisaUnivision before and during the NFL season, including practice reports, analysis, interviews, and behind-the-scenes access, giving Cowboys fans in Mexico unprecedented access to the team.

“The Dallas Cowboys are the most popular NFL team in Mexico, and TelevisaUnivision is excited to embark on this new venture as their international business partner. The team’s long history as a premier global sports franchise is in keeping with our company’s goal to provide the best to our Mexican sports fans,” said Marco Liceaga, Senior Vice President of Sports Growth Enterprises for TelevisaUnivision.

“With 55 years of tradition in the country, the Dallas Cowboys are more than an NFL team; they are the NFL team of Mexico,” he added.

The partnership does not end just with media content; TelevisaUnivision will also become the strategic commercial agent for the Cowboys in Mexico. The media giant will help the team explore and secure commercial partners and sponsorships in Mexico.

TelevisaUnivision will also be granted access to the Cowboys’ intellectual property, including the star logo, which the media company will be allowed to use to leverage relationships with local businesses.

Through this strategic partnership, the Dallas Cowboys hope to increase their presence in the Mexico market and continue building their fan base outside the United States.

“The Dallas Cowboys are proud to continue to innovate with new ways to reach our dedicated Mexican fan base,” said Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys Owner, President, and General Manager. “This new initiative between two sports giants builds on seven decades of collaboration dating back to the 1960s when the Dallas Cowboys first televised games in Mexico and now allows us to speak directly to the 15.2 million Mexican Cowboys fans that we currently have,” he added.

The Cowboys and TelevisaUnivision’s partnership represents the largest agreement between an NFL team and an international company since the NFL launched International Home Marketing Areas in January.

The NFL granted 18 teams access to 26 international markets, allowing them to essentially conduct business and community outreach as they would in their home-market area.

The Cowboys were one of nine NFL teams to be awarded Mexico as an International Home TelevisaUnivision could have also partnered with the Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, or San Francisco 49ers.

Liceaga told the Dallas Morning News that TelevisaUnivision never considered another team for a partnership.

“To be honest, we’re focusing 100% on the Cowboys,” Liceaga said. “We haven’t approached any other club, and no other club approached us. So we decided for the foreseeable future, for the scope of this partnership, we will only work with the Cowboys, and likewise, the Cowboys will not work with anyone else in the territory.”

“If we prove that this [partnership] is successful, which we are confident it will [be], maybe it paves the path for other clubs and other territories to explore similar partnerships,” Liceaga added. “If, at the end of day, that happens and that helps the clubs and the league build more value, then we’re happy to be the ones to lead the way in conjunction with the Cowboys.”

GREAT! Now we can watch them lose in Spanish. Jerry Jones sucks and is the 2nd worst owner in football. Daniel Snyder with the Washington Redskins is the worst. but Jerry is the biggest failure as a GM

The Cowboys are scrambling for viewership. Nobody wants to watch a bunch of losers. They are losers because their general manager is clueless when it comes to managing a football franchise. The Cowboys will never have a winning season as long as Jerry or his son, Stephen manages.
