The Dallas Cowboys have secured more defensive help by trading for Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.

In exchange for Wilson, Dallas will be sending the Bengals a 2026 seventh-round draft selection.

Although Wilson has struggled through the first half of the 2026 regular season, the linebacker has a long history of being one of the most productive players at his position.

Since entering the league in 2020, Wilson has collected 541 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, and 11 interceptions.

This trade will also help the Cowboys in the future, as Wilson is currently under contract through the 2027 season, meaning Dallas could keep him on the roster for at least two more seasons.

The move comes for a Cowboys defense that has struggled throughout the entire season, ranking as one of the worst in the league and contributing to multiple losses this year.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the Cowboys rank near the bottom of the league in nearly every statistical category, resulting in one of the worst defensive units in the league’s recent history.

Despite the trade, the Cowboys will face an uphill battle to secure a spot in the NFL postseason.

The Cowboys currently boast a record of just 3-5-1 and rank second in the NFC East division, with the team also sitting at 11th in the NFC Playoff Picture.

Dallas will likely need at least 10 wins to secure a wild-card seed in the NFC playoffs, meaning the team will have to finish the season with a record of 7-1 across the final eight games.

Stringing together that type of record would be impressive for any team in the league, but the Cowboys have an incredibly difficult stretch of games coming over the next few weeks.

The Cowboys will have a bye in Week 10, followed by a matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11. The team will then face multiple high-level playoff teams in consecutive weeks.

Following the Cowboys’ game against the Raiders, the team will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Detroit Lions in three straight weeks, marking one of the hardest three-week stretches for any team in the NFL.

Dallas could look to make another move before the NFL trade deadline at 3 p.m., with the team rumored to be seeking additional help along the defensive line.

Currently, there is no clear indication about whether a move will be made, though a few names have stood out as potential options for the team to acquire.

Players such as Miami Dolphins’ outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, Green Bay Packers’ edge Kingsley Enagbare, and Tennessee Titans’ defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons could each be moved by the deadline.
