The Dallas Cowboys have conducted multiple interviews with head coaching candidates as the organization is seemingly taking a slow approach to a process that will have major implications for the future of the franchise.

Dallas has conducted just two interviews with Robert Saleh and Kellen Moore with one additional interview planned with Leslie Frazier, marking a noticeably different approach to the hiring process when compared to other teams.

The Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars are also searching for a new head coach, but each of these organizations has completed at least five interviews with candidates to this point, according to CBS Sports.

Many of these teams are expected to come to an agreement with a candidate within the coming days following the divisional round of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have still provided no indication of when a coach will be hired and will likely drag on this process for the foreseeable future.

Dallas is expected to pursue further discussions with multiple candidates during this coaching cycle, including Saleh, Moore, Frazier, and others.

One of the most surprising names being discussed as a potential option for America’s Team is current Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who is now the betting favorite to accept the role, per NBC Sports.

Schottenheimer has been with the team for two seasons and is not expected to receive any other interviews with organizations searching for a head coach.

NFL Insider Adam Schefter stated on Monday morning that the Cowboys “absolutely love and respect” Schottenheimer but there is no clear information on whether he will be a candidate for the job.

Schefter further clarified that, to the best of his knowledge, Schottenheimer “hadn’t even interviewed for the job and Dallas hadn’t approached him about being the head coach,” per Sports Illustrated.

Another option that may become available for the Cowboys is current Washington Commander offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who has devised a potent offense behind rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Despite Kingsbury struggling during his first tenure as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, multiple teams are expected to meet with the coordinator if he decides to pursue another head coaching job.

Dallas is reportedly interested in “potentially exploring” a partnership with Kingsbury in the future and could look to interview him for the role once the Commanders are eliminated from the playoffs, per Adam Schefter.

Finally, the Cowboys could look to hire former tight end Jason Witten and current Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady for the role, though each of these options seems far less likely than other candidates.

Although Colorado Head Coach and former Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders was also reportedly in the mix for the opening, the current expectation is that Dallas will hire another coach who has more NFL experience.

Sanders has provided an indication that he would accept an offer to serve as the Cowboys’ head coach, but there has been little indication from the organization that he would be considered for the role.
