The NFL announced its international schedule for the 2022 season on Wednesday. This November, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks will square off in the league’s first-ever game in Germany.
The Seahawks and Buccaneers will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET on November 13 at Allianz Arena in Munich, home of the soccer club Bayern Munich. The game will air on NFL Network.
In February, the NFL announced that it would play four games in Germany over the next four seasons, two apiece in Munich and Frankfurt.
Tampa Bay, led by seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, will head to Munich hoping for better luck in international games. The Buccaneers are 0–3 in games played in London, losing to the New England Patriots 35-7 in 2009, the Chicago Bears 24-18 in 2011, and the Carolina Panthers 37-26 in 2019.
In contrast, Seattle is 2–0 when playing outside of the U.S. The Seahawks won 50-17 over the Buffalo Bills in Toronto in 2012 and 27-3 over the Oakland Raiders in 2018 in London. However, Seattle is entering a new era, playing its first season in a decade without Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback.
Additionally, the NFL announced the three games in London this season, each with 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff times.
On October 2, the New Orleans Saints will face the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Saints and Vikings are each 2-0 in London. New Orleans beat the San Diego Chargers 37-32 in 2006 and the Miami Dolphins 20-0 in 2017 at Wembley Stadium. Minnesota won 34-27 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013 at Wembley and 33-16 over the Cleveland Browns in 2017 at Twickenham Stadium.
Also playing at Tottenham Hotspur are the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants on October 9.
The Packers are the last remaining team to have never played in an international game. The Giants are 2-0 in London, beating the Miami Dolphins 13-10 in 2007 at Wembley Stadium and the Rams 17-10 in 2016 at Twickenham Stadium.
On October 30, the Jacksonville Jaguars will play the Denver Broncos at the historic Wembley Stadium.
Jacksonville is 4-4 in its international games, playing in London annually since 2013. Last season the Jaguars beat Miami 23-20 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to snap a 20-game losing streak that stretched over two seasons, the second-longest in NFL history.
Jacksonville and the NFL have agreed on a three-year contract that will see the Jaguars play an annual home game at Wembley Stadium through the 2024 season.
Jacksonville’s opponent, Denver, is 0-1 outside the United States, losing to the San Francisco 49ers 24-10 in 2010 at Wembley.
Finally, the league announced that the Arizona Cardinals would take on the 49ers at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in a Monday Night Football game the week of Thanksgiving. The game will air in primetime, kicking off at 8:15 p.m. ET, on November 21.
It will be the fourth NFL game played in Mexico City. The Oakland Raiders beat the Houston Texans 27-20 in 2016, the New England Patriots beat the Raiders 33-8 in 2017, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 24-17 in 2019.
The Chiefs were also scheduled to play the Los Angeles Rams at Estadio Azteca in 2019, but the game was moved to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions.
