The NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers have fired high-profile coach Doc Rivers, the Philadelphia Inquirer and ESPN reported Tuesday morning.

The 76ers lost a Game 7 showdown to the Boston Celtics, ending their championship hopes on Sunday and fueling speculation Rivers would be cut loose.

“No one is safe in our business, and I get that,” Rivers said after Sunday’s loss.

Rivers, who was voted one of the NBA’s top 15 all-time coaches in a celebration of the league’s 75th anniversary season, is the latest coach to lose his job.

The Phoenix Suns fired coach Monty Williams, and the Milwaukee Bucks dumped coach Mike Budenholzer after second-round playoff exits.

Rivers was 154-82 (.653) in three seasons with the 76ers.
