The Texas Rangers continued their homestand on Tuesday, while the Dallas Wings tried to stop a two-game losing streak in Phoenix.

Here is what happened on the field, on the court, and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (48-31, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 8, Detroit Tigers 3

Texas fell behind 2-0 but recovered to take a 3-2 lead on a Leody Taveras single in the sixth. Detroit tied the game in the top of the eighth on a solo home run by Spencer Torkelson, yet the Rangers responded with a five-run eighth inning that included home runs from Ezequiel Duran and Adolis Garcia to put the game out of reach. Grant Anderson retired the Tigers in order in the ninth to end it.

Noteworthy: Texas maintains a five-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West.

— Starting pitcher Martin Perez lasted at least six innings for the third consecutive outing and fourth of five starts in June. He has allowed three runs or less in each of his starts since giving up seven to Tampa Bay on June 11.

— Perez remains one win behind Derek Holland for the second-most by a left-handed pitcher in franchise history. Kenny Rogers has the most with 133.

— Garcia leads the Rangers with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs this season. He is one of five Texas Rangers in the running to start at the All-Star Game for the American League and is in fifth place among outfielders during the second round of voting.

— Marcus Semien scored his 64th run of the season on a Corey Seager double in the eighth. The 64 runs scored are the most by a Ranger before the All-Star break since Ian Desmond scored 65 in 2016.

Dallas Wings (7-8, third in Western Conference)

Last Game: Wings 77, Phoenix Mercury 62

Dallas got out to an 11-point lead after the first quarter but allowed Phoenix to come within four points at the end of the half. The game remained close into the fourth quarter, yet the Wings created a 14-0 run down the stretch to lead by as many as 17 with less than a minute left and held the Mercury to just 11 points in the final stanza. All-Star Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 23 points, including nine in the fourth quarter.

Noteworthy: Dallas rebounds from two consecutive losses to the Los Angeles Sparks and earns its seventh win of the season.

— The 11 points for the Mercury in the fourth quarter tied for the fewest number of points the Wings have allowed in the final period this season.

— Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally each had double-doubles for Dallas. It is the third time they have done so in the same game this season.
