Pressure situations and Keller pitcher Braden Davis go hand-in-hand as the Sam Houston State signee prevailed on the mound for the 33-6 Indians once again in the Class 6A Region 1 playoffs.
Having started two pressured-packed game threes in the postseason, Davis, who carried a 4-0 mark into the Region 1 semifinal, hurled more than five innings in Keller’s 7-4 series-clinching victory over the Coppell Cowboys on May 29.
Not a bad pre-graduation present – Keller held its commencement exercises at Arlington’s Globe Life Field on May 30 for Davis and his senior comrades.
“Walking into graduation as semi-regional champs! High School has come to an end, but baseball continues,” the team’s Twitter account posted on the morning of graduation day.
The Indians, who are ranked No. 2 in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches’ Association Class 6A state poll, draw the opportunity to dethrone back-to-back state champion Southlake Carroll in the Region 1 final.
The Indians and the Dragons will play at Dallas Baptist University, with Game 1 set for June 1 at 7:30 p.m.
