Winter weather is hitting North Texas, with falling temperatures and a predicted three inches of snow accumulation topped off with another inch of ice. The inclement weather will arrive late Wednesday afternoon and continue through Thursday afternoon, according to WFAA.com.

As a precautionary measure, area schools submitted plans on Monday to close during the worst of the expected winter storm. Dallas ISD took the lead, announcing its offices and schools would be closed Thursday, February 3 and Friday, February 4. 

Driving conditions are expected to be hazardous, making it difficult for buses to transport students and for after-school activities to take place. Below is a current list of Dallas County school closures and related information for February 3 and 4. The list will be updated as more information becomes available. 

Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD tweeted its plans for inclement weather. The post alerted parents, students, and staff that news of closings would be announced between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the district’s social media accounts, the district website, and through the Parent Square Notification System (phone call and text message). As of press time, the district has not announced any closures. 

Cedar Hill ISD closed its offices and canceled all classes for Thursday and Friday.

Coppell ISD will close its schools and offices on Thursday and Friday, according to its official Twitter page. 

Dallas ISD announced offices would be closed and classes canceled on Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities, practices, and games have been canceled through Saturday, February 5. 

DeSoto ISD is closing all campuses and offices on Thursday and Friday. All after-school practices, games, and extracurricular activities are canceled through Friday.

Duncanville ISD tweeted the closure of its offices and schools for Thursday and Friday.

Ferris ISD  In a post on Facebook, Ferris announced on Wednesday that all schools and administrative offices would be closed on Thursday and Friday. 

Garland ISD announced via its website that all schools and offices would be closed on Thursday, February 3. The day will not be made up, and the closure includes the ICON Virtual School and Remote Conferencing.

Grand Prairie ISD has canceled all classes and closed all offices for Thursday and Friday. All extracurricular activities have been canceled for Wednesday, February 2. Beyond The Bell will remain open until all students have been picked up. Updates will be given on their website.

Highland Park ISD all schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The closure includes offices, after-school activities, and games.

Irving ISD announced all after-school activities would be canceled on Wednesday afternoon, and all schools and offices would be closed on Thursday and Friday. There will be no remote learning, and the missed days will not be made up. 

Lancaster ISD campuses and district offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. The district will implement remote learning for Thursday and Friday. 

Lewisville ISD tweeted its winter action plan, saying it would make an announcement about closures by 5:00 a.m. Thursday, communicating via phone, social media, and district websites. Local TV stations will also be notified if a decision is made to cancel school. 

Mesquite ISD announced on its Twitter page that its schools will be closed on Thursday, February 3. School officials will monitor conditions before making a decision about Friday. 

Richardson ISD announced via its website that all after-school activities on Wednesday would conclude at 5:00 p.m., and all schools and offices would be closed on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, the district will make a decision in March regarding making up the days.

Sunnyvale ISD announced all campuses and offices would be closed on Thursday, and it would monitor the weather before deciding if campuses and offices would close on Friday. The snow day will not have to be made up. 

Red Oak ISD All campuses and offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities for Wednesday, February 2, have also been canceled. 

Wylie ISD tweeted that all schools and facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday and urged parents, students, and staff to continue to monitor its official website.
