The Rowlett Police Department announced the death of one of its officers who passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, after suffering a brief illness.

According to a post on the Facebook page of the Rowlett Police Department, retired police officer Darsel “Dee” Moore died on Wednesday night after “a battle with sickness.”

Moore was described on the Facebook post as a kind-hearted person who was known for infectious laughter.

The retired officer of the Rowlett PD was also “a proud Vietnam Veteran” and family man. According to the Facebook post, Moore had over forty years of law enforcement experience, having served in Dallas, Terrel, Eastfield, and then finally the Rowlett Police Department.

“After those 40 years he devoted to honing his craft, Dee finally got to do everyone’s dream, retire!” the Facebook post read. “He left behind some rather large boots to fill that, honestly, I don’t think there will ever be anyone who will wear them quite the way Dee did.”

The Rowlett PD asks everyone to join its officers as they send their condolences to Moore’s wife and his entire family.

“His passing hurts, but our memories and recollections of Dee sure bring happiness to all our hearts,” the Facebook post added. “Sure gonna miss you ‘ooold timer,’ godspeed.”
