The Crescent mixed-use development in Uptown Dallas is getting an upgrade with the addition of a multifamily residential tower and a new restaurant.

The existing 1.3 million-square-foot complex already enjoys office spaces, retail, hotel accommodations, restaurants, and other amenities. Once the latest addition is complete, The Crescent will welcome a new ground-floor Greek restaurant and a residential apartment tower, Crescent Point Tower.

“The Crescent already offers an unrivaled mixed-use environment. Crescent Point Tower will be the capstone, the realization of the ultimate destiny of the campus,” said Crescent founder and chairman John C. Goff, per The Dallas Morning News.

Developer Crescent Real Estate LLC plans to build the new section on a half-acre portion of the property at the corner of Cedar Springs Road and Maple Avenue. According to a publicly available plan from the builder presented to the Oak Lawn Committee – a local organization that helps make significant decisions in the community where The Crescent is located – the proposed apartment tower would stand over 400 feet tall, have 30 levels, and house around 215 units.

The developer says the project will enhance Oak Lawn, including a near-doubling of the number of trees on the street, wider sidewalks, and a newly landscaped parkway on Maple Avenue focused on pedestrian safety. It will also result in new ground-floor retail space and two new outdoor dining areas.

“It’s the centerpiece of Uptown. It’s one of the most important projects in the state and the country. You’re never done,” said Joseph Pitchford, managing director of development for Crescent Real Estate, per DMN. “Everything we do is to enhance the Crescent and the neighborhood.

“Hopefully, our track record of almost $2 billion worth of investment in Uptown makes it clear we want to continue to improve the district and neighborhood, block by block, product by product. This product will be no different.”

The Crescent’s expansion marks the latest in building activity in Uptown Dallas. Last year, The Dallas Express reported that Dallas-based Stonelake Capital Partners planned to add a 17-story office tower at 2626 McKinney Ave. Once completed, the building, across from the Whole Foods Market, will lie within walking distance of The Crescent.
