Texas continues to have some of the hottest real estate markets in the country. Opendoor revealed its top 20 hottest ZIP code list of 2022, and seven Texas ZIP codes made the cut.
The highest-ranked ZIP code in Texas was 77494 in Katy, a suburban city outside of Houston, which landed at third place nationally.
Katy has been experiencing explosive growth, luring homeowners for its proximity to major employers while also being family-friendly. From 2010 to 2020, the city saw a 55% increase in population, according to Houston CultureMap.
The ZIP code 78130 for the San Antonio suburb of New Braunfels came in at number four.
“Straddling (Interstate 35), New Braunfels makes commuting to San Antonio or Austin completely doable,” Chelsea Goyer, the national head of brokerage at Opendoor, told the San Antonio Express-News. “New Braunfels is packed with outdoor activity options like Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River.”
Texas ZIPs rounded out the top five with a showing from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Forney’s 75126, mostly located in Kaufman County, ranked fifth on the list.
Forney has been known as the official “Antique Capital of Texas” since 1987, but things sure have changed since then. The small town of about 5,000 residents is now home to over 26,000. The 75126 ZIP code saw more homes go under contract within 90 days of listing than any other area, according to Candy’s Dirt.
“It is no surprise these Dallas-Fort Worth ZIPs continue to gain traction and momentum, with Forney ranking No. 5 and Aubrey nearly making the top 10 hottest ZIP Codes in the U.S.,” Goyer said. “Not only is there an uptick in job availability from the tech boom in Dallas, but the small-town environment of these neighborhoods and easy access to the vibrancy of a big city is what buyers are looking for.”
Other Texas ZIP codes on the list included Cypress’ 77433 at seventh place, Leander’s 78641 at ninth, San Antonio’s 78253 at 11th, and Aubrey’s 76227 at 13th.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the Silverado community in Aubrey was the top-selling residential development in the state in 2022.
The state behind Texas with the second most showings on Opendoor’s top 20 ZIPs in 2022 list was Florida with three.
