Further development at The Central, a mixed-use property near Dallas’ CityPlace, is set to begin in days with the construction of retail and restaurant space.

Called “The Central Park Pavilions,” De La Vega Capital Development of Dallas plans to construct four buildings across 14,000 square feet at the site on North Haskell Avenue starting in December, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

That work is expected to be complete in June, with a construction price tag set for $6 million.

At full build-out, The Central is set to span 27 acres and billions of dollars in development that encompass 4 million square feet.

According to De La Vega Development, the urban mixed-use property focuses on upscale multifamily, retail, restaurant, office, and hotel space around a 3.5-acre park alongside U.S. 75 — an area with a daily traffic count of 400,000 vehicles.

Further work is already underway at The Central with the construction of The Oliver, a 351-unit, $100 million residential tower, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Dallas-based StreetLights Residential is developing the high-rise property alongside Mitsui Fudosan America, the U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s largest real estate company, Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., CultureMap reported last year. Streetlights is behind other notable multifamily buildings in Dallas, such as The Jordan and The Christopher in the Uptown area, The Case Building in Deep Ellum, and the adaptive reuse of offices into apartments at One Dallas Center downtown.

GFF, with offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin, is listed as the design firm for the retail buildings on the state filing.
