A Houston-based real estate school, Champions School of Real Estate, is looking to build a new location in North Texas in response to the growing demand for entry into the real estate profession.

It is eyeing a roughly 19,000-square-foot lot along the George Bush Turnpike to replace its existing building in Plano, which it has outgrown.

“We just saw this piece of land, and it was the perfect thumbprint for what our needs are,” stated Kimberly Dydalewicz, president and co-owner of the real estate school, speaking with The Dallas Morning News.

She further discussed the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on her school’s enrollment figures, stating, “I think that when the pandemic hit, a lot of people wanted to look at a different career and wanted to be their own boss.”

As life has begun to return to normal in many regards, courses previously taught online can be safely conducted in person.

“Everyone really wanted to get back into the classroom and have that actual face-to-face instruction,” stated Dydalewicz.

Although it does not provide licensing of any kind, Champions School of Real Estate offers courses for real estate agents, loan officers, inspectors, and appraisers that are required to obtain licensure.

Even as the national housing supply is tightening in relation to demand, prospective real estate professionals all over the country are continuing to flock to the industry, according to the DMN.

The new building Champions School of Real Estate desires to erect will be a one-story building like its predecessor in Plano, however, it will be roughly twice the girth, with bigger classrooms and a seminar room that can hold up to 170 students.

Dydalewicz said there would also be more parking and an “inspector’s lab” where prospective house inspectors could practice assessing things like home plumbing, wiring, and HVAC systems.
