Family-owned Lynn Creek Marina in Grand Prairie has a new owner after Dallas-based real estate investment firm Suntex Marina Investors recently purchased the harbor.
The marina sits on the 7,400 acres of Joe Pool Lake, with over sixty miles of shoreline. It offers amenities such as a marina store, boat rentals, and The Oasis restaurant. The eatery will be renamed the Blue Sunshine Patio Bar and Grill.
The development of the lake, which opened in 1989, was established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Trinity River Authority, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and the Joe Pool Lake Planning Council.
The lake is used for jet skiing, bird watching, fishing, and other outdoor activities. It also offers 528 wet slips for individuals to store their large boats and 116 dry stalls.
According to Suntex Marinas’ website, the company is one of the country’s largest and most respected marina operators. They own and operate thirty-eight facilities across the United States with some other locations in California, Florida, Georgia, and Iowa.
In a statement, Suntex Marinas Senior Vice President of Operations Michael Warntjes said, “We are excited to take over a staple on Joe Pool Lake in the heart of the southern Dallas suburbs. We anticipate infusing some immediate capital to improve the amenities and security for guests while focusing on long-term development of the entire property.”
Some other marinas in Texas that Suntex operates are in Fort Worth, Canyon Lake, Garland, and Rockwall.
Their core values are “Make it together. Make it right. Make it happen. Make it fun.”
A real estate listing showed that Lynn Creek Marina recently underwent $3 million in renovations and improvements. The marina is listed as averaging $1.9 million to $2 million in boat storage revenue annually and $3 million in total marina revenue.
The Oasis Restaurant brings in $2.5 million to $3 million of annual revenue.
