The Great Wolf Lodge water park and resort in Grapevine could undergo $17 million in renovations.

Grapevine’s Great Wolf Lodge opened in 2007 and is owned and operated by Great Wolf Inc., based in Chicago. They have more than 20 locations in 16 states and Canada: California, Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Kansas, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The company submitted its renovation plans to the state last week. The plans listed that the renovations would focus on the following areas: family entertainment areas, food and beverage areas, and interior finishing on the second floor.

There will be several additions, expansions, and relocations as well. The resort plans to add a grand staircase, relocate the arcade, expand the restaurant, and add an outdoor bar.

The documents filed with the state declare that renovations would begin on May 1, 2023, and be completed on July 31, 2024, meaning that the $17 million project would take over a year.

Wisconsin-based design firm Architectural Design Consultants Inc. will partner with Great Wolf Lodge in the renovations.

Jason Lasecki, vice president of corporate communications for Great Wolf Resorts, told the DMN in a statement, “We are currently exploring possible renovations to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, and to gain insights required as part of the planning and evaluation process, we needed to complete this filing with the state.”

Lasecki declined to comment on the potential renovations as the plans still need to be solidified. He did tell the DMN that the company is “excited about the possibilities of bringing some new experiences to families visiting Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.”

Three Great Wolf Lodge locations are coming to the U.S. soon: One in Perryville, Maryland, one in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and the last in Naples, Florida.

The news about the Great Wolf Lodge renovations comes on the heels of DFW getting more improvements to its family entertainment following the announcement of the new Universal Theme Park and Peppa Pig theme parks.

Why did they have to file plans with the state? Why not just file the plans with the city of Grapevine or Tarrant county?
