Dallas Midtown is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Developer Scott Beck, CEO of Beck Ventures, on Tuesday, announced the first mixed-use development planned at the site of the former Valley View Mall in north Dallas.

The first project will be a mixed-use building with 26,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, including 275 units of upscale apartments, Beck said.

Beck hosted a press conference Tuesday at the Valley View site, 13331 Preston Road near the LBJ Freeway, with several Dallas city councilors and City Manager T.C. Broadnax.

Demolition of the former mall site has been completed.

Dallas Midtown is the general term given by City of Dallas officials to development in the Valley View and Galleria areas.

The development also will include a 20-acre park, Beck said.
